Standard is providing scaffold support services at a local major power plant site for Sureway Industrial. All scaffolds are predesigned using the Peri system. 15% minimum labour savings will be achieved by following the process developed for this project. The venture is scheduled to be completed in 2021.

Standard provided scaffold support for CNRL Module assembly in Edmonton to support mechanical, electrical piping, fireproof and insulation activities. The scaffolds were hoarded and heated to protect the work force from winter weather conditions. The Peri scaffold system was used. This product helped ensure decks are even and inside toe boards were included reducing the potential for dropped objects.

With crews on site since 2016, Standard has completed a multitude of scopes and builds for the general contractor and its dozens of trade partners, all without a single incident or injury.

This downtown Edmonton library is undergoing a three-year revitalization to fully modernize and renovate the interior and exterior of the building.

Few corners of this Central Building have been untouched as only the building structural core and frame are being kept. This has required all means of scaffolding from facade access and shrink wrap containment, to a custom-built heavy duty garbage chute.

The 70 year old historical wood-frame Cathedral needed a full exterior restoration with access to its original copper domes.

Since preventing damage to the Cathedral was the primary concern, every scaffold connection to the building was first protected with a softener, and each leg load was calculated ahead of the build using a 3D BIM of the scaffold.

This hotel built on a jagged slope proved challenging during the construction process.

The team designed the engineered scaffold and incorporated the rough terrain into the model to gain an accurate representation of the site layout.

Productivity and timing was crucial to this project as there was a scheduling constraint to complete prior to the winter holidays.

The 8-storey, 88’ high scaffold was completed and enclosed in record time with zero incidents or injuries.

Standard provided complete scaffold services for the construction phase of Plant 49. Standard Scaffold met or exceeded productivity expectations tracked by the client, while maintaining a strong safety record.

This project was completed on schedule and on budget.

Standard Scaffold was commissioned to take over the scaffold modification and dismantle support in units 10, 20, and 30 in 2017. One of the key KPI’s is the pounds per hour expectation of the contract.

This project used the PERI system during the construction phase. Standard is currently managing the bundling and demobilization of the PERI scaffold system safely and efficiently.

To date, the overall project has exceeded the productivity expectations and has maintained an injury-free record. The crew has demonstrated incredible teamwork and recently celebrated a significant safety milestone.

Standard Scaffold is supplying labour and material support for Well Pads 105, 109, 112 & 118. Standard is utilizing the PERI system of scaffold material with great success. The PERI product has ensured complete decks, which reduce the potential for dropped objects.

The contract is based on a unit rate, productivity, and schedule matrix. The crews have successfully maintained the expectations of the client and of Suncor, and we have become the contractor of choice for scaffold and insulation support. 

Additional scope has been awarded by Suncor through Phoenix Industrial due to Standard's performance. To date, there have been no safety or compliance violations.

Standard was contracted to complete the unit 50 and 60 scaffold dismantle and equipment demobilization. The contract was successfully completed on a pay-for-performance model.

The materials were packaged and demobilized within the contract schedule. In addition, Standard provided some site cleanup support, including removing rig mats and construction materials.

All work was completed without safety incident or site violation.

Standard Scaffold initially provided temporary hoarding structures to pour concrete pads for equipment placement at site during winter. Temporary structures exceeded 60’ in width and maintained a constant internal ambient temperature of greater than 8C.

Subsequently, Standard was awarded additional work to provide scaffold access to install the equipment and piping at height. The current project includes installing continuous scaffold to allow for installation of large diameter piping from the north tank farm to the south end of the project site.

Insulation support has been provided as required, including direct services to Kinder Morgan. All work on this site has been successfully completed following a unit rate pay-for-performance model.

The site has been converted to the PERI system, which has resulted in a 10% increase in efficiency through smaller piece count requirements, ease of installation, and lightweight components. The project has remained incident-free for over a year and remains heavily focused on high productivity through safe work procedures.

Standard Scaffold provided a productivity-based reward model to supply and install insulation. Using this model, Standard was able to meet a critical timeline for plant start-up.

This model was an effective asset in getting the schedule back on track.

Standard Scaffold was awarded the insulation contract for 38 Modules for the Suncor Ft. Hills project at the Supreme Modular Fabrication yards. Our Industrial Insulation team completed the project on schedule, while maintaining an excellent safety record.

Productivity was the key factor for success for all stakeholders. The project schedule was compressed and altered on a regular basis by inconsistent piping deliveries and product QA/QC issues.

The flexibility and versatility of our workforce was showcased in our ability to mobilize as required and keep the project schedule on track. Standard provided excellent supply-chain coordination with JIT delivery of materials. We provided warehousing support, and managed the logistics, distribution, and documentation related to the materials.

In 2017, Standard Scaffold and JACOS entered into a scaffold and insulation maintenance agreement. The initial scope of work included completing a large deficiency list, which was executed efficiently and safely to ensure that the plant was operational as scheduled.

Standard has chosen to utilize the efficient PERI Scaffold Management System for both maintenance and capital projects. To date, there are no safety or compliance violations on this project.

Standard was retained to provide insulation & cladding services. Once on site, we were awarded additional piping work, which doubled the contract.

The highlights of this project were no safety incidents, zero re-work, and project completion on time and within budget. Standard was able to utilize materials CNRL had on site that were left over from previous projects, which provided additional cost savings. We managed the logistics of securing the usable materials on site and procured the remaining material required.

Standard exceeded the clients' and owners' expectations with our attention to detail and safety culture. They appreciated that we were able to use materials that were on site, resulting in extensive cost-savings for freight and purchasing.

For this industrial scaffolding project, Pyrogel XT was used to insulate piping, as well as for removable soft covers. Standard was able to supply Pyrogel XT blankets at a greatly reduced cost, which translated to cost savings for the client.

All work on site was executed in a safe and consistent manner without any incidents or compliance infractions.

This project consisted of insulating and cladding 2 large bore pipes located underneath the Peter Lougheed bridge.

Working under the bridge brought challenges of congestion. Insulators were positioned directly over the river, with high winds and temperatures dropping as low as -36C. There were only two points of access to the work-front, which required thorough planning for scope execution and manpower selection.

Both the 36" and 30” lines had been replaced by OCL Group for Syncrude due to the age and deterioration. The length of each pipe was 500 meters and presented unique challenges. For the portion of pipes that started underground, Foamglas finished with Pit Wrap was used to insulate. Pyrogel XT was used for insulating the above-ground portion of the pipe. Using Pyrogel XT enabled Standard to cut down the thickness from 6 inches to 1 inch. The pipe was installed and finished with aluminum cladding.

Standard is providing access support for instrumentation and electrical installation in the tank farm at Kinder Morgan 17th Street Terminal.

Work to date is following a pay-for-performance model with continued success. To date, Standard is meeting all schedule, safety, and compliance requirements.

The PERI system has been used throughout this project, demonstrating the efficiencies of the system with reduced piece counts and ease of installation.

Standard Scaffold was retained to provide a complete access solution package for the fireproof repair project as part of the completion of the VDU contract. An estimate under a unit rate model was approved and executed with a crew of 20.

The access to the work was jointly managed with the fireproof contractor to ensure the best solution was utilized. This included scaffold, remote access, and mechanical man lifts.

The project was successfully completed with no safety or site violations.

A highlight of the project was the exclusive use of the PERI scaffold system, which reduced the number of components required and provided a complete deck system, eliminating the potential for dropped objects and ultimately reducing costs.

Standard Scaffold provided construction-to-completion scaffold and insulation services for this project. While the project experienced scheduling challenges, Standard was able to work with the construction management team to minimize the delays. With a peak crew of 65, this project was completed with no recordable incidents.

Daily monitoring and updates to the QA/QC for insulation resulted in minimal rework and timely turnover of completed mechanical systems to commissioning. With a peak crew of 125 and a duration of 18 months, this project was completed with no recordable incidents.
